Expel Toxic Heat
Indications:
Carbuncles, pustules, acute attack of herpes simplex or zoster, acute attack of genital herpes, acute tonsillitis with purulent tonsils, infected eczema, acute attack of acne with large pustules, acute attack of sinusitis with purulent nasal discharge.
Indications in Chinese Medicine:
Pattern: Toxic Heat in all three Burners.
Action: resolve Toxic Heat from the three Burners.
Tongue: red, red points, swollen, with thick-sticky-yellow coating.
Pulse: Rapid-Overflowing or Deep-Firm-Rapid.
Cautions and contraindications: Please note that this remedy contains many bitter and cold herbs which, when administered in the long run, may injure the Spleen. This remedy is purely to resolve Toxic Heat and it should therefore be used only for limited periods (no longer than, say, 2 months). The only exception to this rule is in cases when the remedy is used in a very small dose (only 1 tablet a day for an adult) in combination with Qi tonics that protect the Spleen. Contraindicated in pregnancy.
