Western Symptomology:    Common cold or flu with sore throat

Chinese Symptomology:    Pediatric sore throat due to wind heat external contraction with or without heat toxins and an underlying defensive qi vacuity due to spleen vacuity;Gan Mao (common cold or flu); Yan tong (sore throat), fa re (fever)

Actions:    Resolves the exterior and dispels wind, clears heat and resolves toxins, disinhibits the throat and abates fever at the same time as harmonizing the liver-spleen, transforming phlegm, and eliminating dampness.

Pattern:    Wind heat external contraction and possible heat toxins with an underlying liver-spleen disharmony resulting in a defensive qi vacuity, an inhibited qi mechanism, concomitant internal heat, and deep-lying phlegm dampness.

Chinese name:    Xiao Chai Hu Tang He Si Wu Tang Jia Jian

Dosage:    2 droppers full orally every 2-3 hours, not to exceed 6 times daily.

This formula is a combination of Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), Yin Qiao San (Lonicera & Forsythia Powder), and Si Wu Tang (Four Materials Decoction) with additions and subtractions to resolve toxins and disinhibit the throat.
